Devil's Claim Another Victory, this Time Over the Panthers.

Sophomore Lauren Weston uses her six-foot height to her advantage on defense.

Coming off the school vacation with only one practice under their belt, Northampton was ready to tackle the Cathedral Panthers. The first draw caused a battle for the ground ball, but Erin King came out of the mess with the ball, which ended in an unassisted goal by King. Moments later, Bridget Keefe came up with it to hand off to Bridget Szawlowski who landed another goal for the Devils. The Panthers weren't ready to give up yet, they gained possession off the next draw and were able to get on the score board. In just a matter of minutes, the Devils were able to answer the Panthers goal with three of their own. Julia Sullivan, Emily King, and Erin King each obtained unassisted goals.

With a few minutes remaining in the half, the Panthers make one of their last attempts in the game to catch up with the Devils. Although the Devils defense was strong, the Panthers were able to put together a series of cuts and picks, which left a Panther open in the center of the eight, making the score 5-2. With one minute left in the half Keefe put together a series of give-and-goes with Sullivan to add another goal to the Devils scoreboard just before the half. Half time score 6-2.

Coming out of half time, the field was a little bit different for Northampton. Nicole Grevior, a Freshman for Northampton, was got her first Varsity showing in the net for the first quarter of the second half. Grevior ended her quarter with 3 saves. Lindsay Beirwert was next in the net, a Junior for Northampton. She ended the game with 2 saves. The Devils starting goalie, Jenny Long made a short appearance on the field in the offensive end, no goal for her this time, but she is hopeful for another chance later in the season. In the second half, the Devils dialed it up and put another four goals past the Panthers. Sullivan, Erin King, Emily King, and Szawlowski were each able to put one in. The Panthers were able to answer with two but it wasn't enough. The Devils take home a 10-4 victory.
