Erin King focuses on the ref waiting for the whistle on the draw

The Devils come out strong in their first home game of the season. Just thirty-one seconds after the first draw, Northampton's Bridget Szawlowski had won the battle for the ball and made the connection with Bridget Keefe who was able to put one past the Terrier's goalie. With the confidence high and the Devils ready to go, it was just a matter of seconds before Northampton's Julia Sullivan made a break for the goal. Faking high and shooting low, Terrier's goalie came up short. After a battle in the midfield, Northampton comes out strong again. With Sullivan at the top of the eight, Emily King was able to break away from the defense to grab the pass and put another goal past Terrier's goalie for a 3-0 lead. In the next two minutes, Devil's Emily King and Sullivan were able to put a goal each past West Sides goal keeper. With a 5-0 lead and 17:00 minutes left in the half Northampton's Blue Devils weren't about to let the pressure subside. Before the clock could reach 15:00 both Johanna Fleming and Emily King were able to rack up another 2 points for Northampton. With the score 7-0 the Terrier's were feeling the heat.

Senior Aline "Beaner" Sawula on defense, starts the attack and "comes out like a shot."

With 13:46 left in the half, the Terrier's manage to sneak one past Northampton's goal tender, Jenny Long. The Devil's were quick to tackle back and were able to add another three goals to the score board before the half time buzzer. With the score 10-1 and just 7:00 minutes left in the half, the Terriers came out strong from a time out. The whistle blew for the draw and West Springfield's attacker came out of the battle with the ball. With a break away down the center of the field she ran left but cut back right to put another goal past Long. In the last few minutes of the half, the Terrier's continue to keep the pressure on in their offensive end. 2:21 left in the half, Terrier's number 7 was able to put one more on the score board for West Springfield before the half time buzzer. Half time score 10-3 Devil's.

Senior Jenny Long minds the net, keeping the her opponents out of her house.

When both teams returned to the field, the Terrier's were ready to play. After a battle in the midfield and a couple turnovers, West Springfield came out on top. West Side came down the sideline, cut behind the goal and then rolled the crease making the score 10-4. The Devil's weren't ready to let the pressure down yet. With the pressure on and Northampton wanting more, the Devil's were able to answer with another three goals. With just 8:00 minutes left in the half, the Terrier's made their last attempt to score on the Devil's. West Springfield's number 12, leading scorer in the game managed to get the ball down the field and put a final goal past Long. With the score 13-5, the Devil's stayed on the attack. With 5:00 left in the game both Emily King and Keefe were able to put another two past the Terrier's. Final score 15-5.
