The Devils start the season with a 12-4 win.

Junior Erin King heads back for a draw with sophomores Emily King and Elisa Pasche.

In just five short minutes Junior Julia Sullivan took control of the field and scored Northampton's first goal of the season off an 8-meter shot. Amherst tackled back immediately to tie up the game 1-1. Within the next two minutes the pressure was all in Amherst's defensive end. Bridget Keefe put one in the net followed shortly after by Erin King with an 8-meter. Amherst won the next draw and forced Northampton's defense to play tough but a double team left an open girl in the middle and Amherst managed to get the pass off and put another one past Northampton's goal keeper, Jenny Long.

Sophomore Sierra Hart focuses on the center draw.

Towards the end of the first half the pressure was on in the midfeild. After several turnovers and ground ball pick-ups, Northampton managed to gain control of the field once more. Bridget Szawlowski gained possession in the midfield and with minimal defense was able to put another goal in for Northampton. After a tough fight to win the draw Northampton's Sammy Sarvet ran up field to give Keefe an assist to add one more on the score board for the Devils. With just 2:30 left in the first half, Northampton wasn't ready to take the pressure off. With a win off the draw, Junior Lauren Durfer ran straight up the side line to make the pass to Keefe who faked high and shot low to get one more shot in before the half time whistle. Half-time score 6-2 for the Devils.

Northampton started the second half strong winning the draw and carrying it down the side-line. Settling in the offensive end, Sarvet had possession at the top just waiting for the right cut. With just 3:34 into the second half Szawlowski made the connection with Sarvert to put one past Amherst once more. Both teams battled hard for the draw but Northampton came up short this time. Taking it behind the goal, Amherst's offense rolled the crease to get their third goal against Long. Northampton was at it again with Keefe scoring her fourth goal of the game just 13 seconds later. Amherst's final attempt came with their last goal but it wasn't enough to close the gap. Northampton finished off the game by scoring four more goals against the Hurricanes. Erin King wrapped it up with her second and third goals of the game, with her sister Emily and Sammy Sarvet contributing one apiece. Final score: 12 to 4 for the Devils.
